My friend, Jennie, saw my Facebook post about my RED series and wanted to be a part of it. She recently gave birth to her fourth child and asked if I would be interested in a breastfeeding photo shoot. I've always wanted to shoot one and I loved the idea of incorporating it with the red fabric series.
I was initially nervous; wanting to make sure she was comfortable. She was. Her husband was there with us and helped get the child's attention. They were both so gracious; allowing me to capture and experience an intimate moment of beauty and connection. I was in awe from behind the lens. It was one of the best experiences I've had on a photo shoot and I hope to do more like it.
Above: Canon Rebel T4i. Yes, it's a six year old camera. You do what can with what you have. I used to be insecure about it, but now I've learned to embrace the restriction as a creative challenge.
Below: Mamiya C220 on expired Kodak TMax 100. This was my first time using this film. I've used Acros 100 before, but have always been a fan of Kodak TMax 400. There was more contrast than expected. Next time, I'll increase the strobe output. I enjoy the surprising ghostly haze. I love the surprises you get when shooting on film and Polaroids. It's not controlled. It's organic.
